Uhm...hello...oh my god, okay, this is my first time doing this so I probably should apologize in advance for I just know this is going to be a big yap session (there'll definitely be a question, trust).

I'm rather new to the KnY fandom so I haven't really completed the manga yet (as in, analyzed it) although I've gotten all the Spoilers I could get. I've read the light novels to an extent, too)

Sanemi really became my favourite character although it was a connection I couldn't really explain or express since he unfortunately remains one of the most hated characters in DS, and yes I began shipping Giyuu x Sanemi even though many people seem to think that's weird and came out of the blue.

A Pinterest pin with a link to your page; a post where you had a theory that Sanemi had some form of anxiety...and boy am I grateful to the person who made that post, I've been hooked to your blog ever since.

So, uhm, first of all let me just say that I love all your writings. They're convincing, elaborate, and the amount of research you've put into them is mind blowing! The Obanai analysis, the fandom discourse, to name a few, are some of my favourites. I've only read a few, so you might've already made a post answering a question similar to this, but uh...lemme ignore that. Okay, that's enough...onto the questions.

I wanted to ask you about Giyuu and Sanemi's relationship. One thing critics love to say is that their relationship would be "toxic." (That Giyuu's uncommunicative ways will be irritating and unbearable for Sanemi and since he's shown to be rather impatient, he'd lash out and Giyuu will only become even more quiet.) I genuinely want to know what you'd have to say about this. I can already tell you're an unapologetic GiyuuSane shipper, so I wanna know, as I don't know much about their relationship myself, but found that I adored the ship so much it became too much to bear.

Another thing is about Demon Slayer itself. I'm almost very sure that you are aware of how many people criticize the show. I've fallen in love with KnY and I genuinely want to understand why it's hated so much. So far I've been hearing that KnY is badly, poorly written; it has one-dimensional/ one-sided characters, sucks at world-building, is inconsistent, overrated, mid, cliché, unoriginal and what not. I've seen somebody make a freaking hour-long YouTube video on why DS is that bad. (I'm unsure if you've seen it, though.) Some people say there's way too much plot armour and the villains got nerfed, that Douma vs Shinobu fight was just the author rushing things; apparently the ending was rushed too. Its pacing was "horrible" the backstory dumping and the endless monologue is annoying to them, and "the only personality the characters ever have is their backstory." Someone even commented "the characters are basically caricatures with catchphrases."

I've heard that Obanai's character is boring, inconsistent and lacked development (that his character can literally be summed to "I hate all women except Mitsuri"), that Zenitsu is annoying, terribly written and is wasted potential, that Kanao is a typical Y/N character and that the Kamado siblings are nothing special, and are extremely generic and boring (especially Nezuko, she seemingly has zero personality.) Idk much, but there are some posts on Pinterest saying that all the canon ships except the Uzuis have poor writing. Even Giyuu seems to be a "Wattpad mafia lord who acts like he's carrying too much pain." Basically they're saying the characters are one-sided, lacking in development, mid, the villains are auraless, the anime is cliché and has nothing unique to it, and the only thing that carries KnY is Ufotable's animation.

Now the reason I'm writing to you is because I really, really want to know what your opinion on this is. I mostly think perspectives differ based on how people define "good" or "bad" writing, everyone has varied views; however as much as I want to defend an anime I've surprisingly grown embarrassingly attached too, I think you're better qualified. It hurts when people attack something that's close to your heart, even if it is just a bunch of pixels. I'm probably stupid to get affected by mere criticisms of a damn ANIME this much, but unfortunately this doesn't seem like something I can control. I am a deranged, cowardly escapist so I didn't even watch the criticisms properly but got the gist of it.

Uhm...yeah, I'm very sorry if I sound demanding, you can take your time, it doesn't matter how long it takes to reply (it's okay if you don't even want to reply, needed to get this off my chest to someone somehow), please don't stress yourself out, I've seen all the amazing titles you're preparing for, wish you luck.

Not gonna lie your ask made me tear up a bit especially towards the end of it because I get you, I get you so, so fucking much. Being a Demon Slayer fan, specifically an English-speaking Demon Slayer fan, is tough. It's like everywhere you look, all you see is negativity towards the series. At some point, you start to feel like you're the only one, you start to doubt yourself and feel, just as you described, crazy and deranged for getting so emotionally attached to such a'mid' anime series.

But lemme tell you this. Fuck those guys. Never be embarrassed for getting emotionally attached to a piece of media, that's what makes you human, it means that you have the time to critically assess and think about what you watch instead of just consuming it mindlessly. Creators LOVE people like you, and I'm absolutely sure that Gotogue-sensei would be touched that her work means so much to you. It's better to be attached or be a stan of something than to be a mindless bot wading through life with no passion for anything.

And I'm not just saying this because I'm also a deranged fan. This applies to any piece of media or any anime series. You know your heart, you know what you've been through in life, you know how life especially in this century is so fucking hard where it seems like everything is trying to crush you, where it feels like you're constantly trying to keep your head afloat in a vast ocean of despair being weighed down by, well, everything and if you find that one life raft that keeps you above the surface, that one thing that allows you to keep on going, that one ray of sunshine that makes you think hey maybe the world isn't so bad, as long as you’re in your lane, just enjoying KnY and engaging with the fandom in a positive way then who the FUCK are those barely sentient pieces of shit to take it away from you?

So with that being said, let's explore your concerns

SaneGiyuu is toxic

I feel the reason people think it’s a toxic ship is because a huge chunk of the fandom tends to infantilize Giyuu and vilify Sanemi. Which is a side effect of the lack of media literacy and shallowness that a lot of people possess.

Giyuu is always made out to be this soft, quiet, uwu-baby boy who is in need of protection because he's constantly bullied by the big, scary meanies like Sanemi and Obanai. Which people with working brains will know is far from the truth; Sanemi and Obanai talk shit about him yes, but if talking shit about someone constitutes as bullying then we’re all bullies and I bully my former boss.

Sanemi on the other hand is always made out to be either this irredeemable monster or this dominant, feral, 'hide-your-daughters' type man who's always alpha and on top, grrrrrr, he's both demonized and sexualized by a lot of fans. So with this mischaracterization of both characters, it's no wonder that people will see SaneGiyuu and come to the conclusion that it’s toxic because all they see is this soft, baby-uwu angel being paired up with this rabid monster. They want Sanemi and Giyuu to be Izuku and Bakugou from MHA so badly, which is just dumb. The other detractors of this ship usually lack the ability to recognize subtext or are just plain homophobic, thinking that the ship interferes with their fantasies.

Here’s a list of some posts I’ve made refuting these claims, but also exploring their dynamics. Just like you, this ship is really important to me because of it’s underlying themes of found family, trauma, miscommunication, isolation. And just the comfort of finding someone who has been through the same things you’ve been through and understands your pain.

The Anime is mid

Since you're new to the fandom it’s no surprise that the 'Demon Slayer is mid' comments would get to you, they used to get to me too. Long time fans will tell you how they’ve learned to just tune out the nonsense and focus on the fandom. Like yea yea we heard you, demon slayer is only carried by the animation, when you’re tired of complaining you’ll shut up and go back to snorting the Cheetos dust off your keyboard 🙄. 

I consider Demon Slayer a litmus test on how people analyze media, especially media that doesn’t have elements that they’re familiar with. See, here’s one thing that a lot of people, even fans of Demon Slayer, don’t get. Demon Slayer is a character driven story—every event or fight is done for the development of the characters in the story. That's why the plot is so simple because it’s not about the plot, it’s about the characters. When people criticize KnY’s plot for being simple, I can’t help but laugh because almost all the greatest stories in humanity have simple plots or some none at all.

Lord of the Rings is about a bunch of dudes who travel to a tower to destroy a ring. 

Gladiator is about a fallen general who is out for revenge on the emperor who betrayed him. 

The Matrix doesn't even have a proper goal until the third act of the movie. 

Harry Potter is about a bunch of kids who want to defeat the wizard that killed Harry's parents. 

American Psycho doesn't even have a proper story structure. It's just about a psychotic dude who goes axe-crazy, literally. 

The Star Wars franchise is about a bunch of people rebelling against a dictatorship. 

Sam Raimi's Spider-Man is about Peter facing the Villain of the week.

So why are these stories so close to our hearts? It’s because of the characters. All this talk about characters being nerfed, fights being boring, plot armor, pacing etc. etc. are all plot-related complaints which don’t apply to the story because it’s all about the characters. Those who say the characters are one-dimensional are just fucking stupid, lazy and shallow-minded. The rest don’t even properly watch the anime or read the manga, they just parrot whatever opinions are popular at the moment.

It also doesn't cater to the western gaze. KnY is completely and unapologetically Japanese, it can’t take place in anywhere but Japan. it’s so rich with Japanese culture, mythologies, folktales, and stories that it’s either you get it, try to get it or you don’t. Even the name 'Kimetsu no Yaiba' directly translates to Blade of Demon Destruction and not just any blade either, Yaiba specifically refers to a Japanese sword. It’s a love letter to Japan that celebrates Japanese culture and values so much that it borders on nationalism 😂. This is foreign to some anime dudebros who are used to anime that either takes place in modern Tokyo, Western-inspired fantasy countries, some version of 'San Fransokyo' or the Edo period.

This especially goes for that arrogant streak of shit who has dryer lint for hair that made the 1hr-long video. I’m sorry, but I’ll be damned before I entertain the opinions of someone who thinks Walter White is a great, complex character. Like bitch, you're not some deep, philosophical critic, you’re just a stupid edgelord who just happened to snare the interest of other stupid edgelords who want to feel like their existence and opinions matter in the grand scheme of things.

And here are some other positive and more nuanced analysis videos by people who have actual brains and, y'know, HAVE ACTUALLY WATCHED THE FUCKING ANIME AND READ THE FUCKING MANGA! So please don't feel sad Anon! Nothing any of these cum-stain-should’ve-beens spew out of the cesspool inside their skulls will change the fact that Demon Slayer is a cultural phenomenon that revitalized the manga and anime industry. It is so popular that even the prime minister of Japan is a fan, that it introduced millions of people to not just anime/manga culture but also Japanese culture, that it revitalized the anime industry. There's also the debate about how it apparently outsold the entire comic book industry in 2020 and university researchers have studied and published analysis pieces on the characters. Not bad for a 'mid' series 😤

Thank goodness I was "able to catch you" while your asks are still open. I'm new army (does being into bts for a year and half now count as "new"?) and I've noticed how armys or other members' solos seem to always have a problem with jimin specifically? Yesterday pjms were talking about how jimin was dragged last year for appearing on the big screen at yoongi's show only for it to turn out that Yoongi was the one who wanted it

Now I've noticed that it's always Jimin who gets such reactions. When he goes to support one of his members, they say he's an attention seeker trying to steal the other's shine. I saw the Hobipalooza reactions live, when it was reported that Jimin was on his way to see Hobi, people were so mad. They were sure he'd try to take over Hobi's stage and make the show all about him. Also when he was seen with Jk on the streets of New York, they called him a leech. And when Taehyung had a show (I can't remember what it was but it was when Taehyung had the silver hair) they said the same thing

I haven't been in the fandom that long I think but Jimin has never once struck me as the kind of person to be envious of others and deliberately take their spotlight or turn attention towards himself. Instead he is the one who supports his members the most and doesn't ever differentiate between them.

What breaks my heart the most is that you don't see such reactions when it's any other member visiting the others and supporting them. I've never seen others being accused of trying to steal a member's spotlight when they go to visit them while they are busy with a show. You might see a member being called a leech but it's only done in regards to a ship. "Oh he's just doing this to feed the delulu" but never the way Jimin is accused of doing.

All the members solos don't always have a problem with each other's faves. But when it comes to Jimin it's like they've all established that he's the enemy. Jjks and kths never hate on each other's faves the way they hate on Jimin. Rapline stans claim to have a disdain for Maknae Line for being privileged since debut and being overrated while their faves are overlooked, but if you see their hate tweets, it's all directed at Jimin while the other two seem practically non-existent to them. They were just vile and awful during FACE era accusing Jimin of payola and getting fraud achievements, they'd be at it for WEEKS, but when Jungkook actually got all that it was silence. The few who did speak out about did it with such a nonchalant vibe like they were obligated because they don't wanna be called out as hypocrites by pjms. And they only spoke of it once while for Jimin it looked like they didn't sleep just to keep the trend going.

It's just so bizarre and very sad. How there are so many people who are unable to see how Jimin is being treated, baffles me. Because even during my first week getting into BTS I'd find comments that would make me side eye. Jimin would be praised and armys would have a "okay can we move on" vibe about it and even comment "ooh you should see Hobi. Now that's dancing/JK has the most beautiful voice/Taehyung has the best stage presence" and the classic "ALL members are good on stage, ALL of vocal line have unique voices, ALL of BTS suppor each other not only one" but when any other member is praised they enthusiastically agree and even talk about more stuff said member is good at or their "iconic" moments, there's no comparison, no "but" no "all of them" comments. How does anyone else not see this?

Why is Jimin treated like a rival of BTS instead of one of its members? What did he do?

He didn’t do anything. People fear Jimin’s gravitational pull because it throws things off balance.

Rational people know Jimin has never been and isn’t an attention seeker. He’ll highlight and praise people ahead of himself (often at his own expense) because he’s humble. But irrational people find him the complete opposite and it’s not to any fault of his own, it’s just because people are naturally drawn to him. He’s an attention hogger. That’s what these people are really getting at. He doesn’t have to do much to have all eyes on him and that’s to the detriment of the other members whose stans feel like they’re superior to Jimin but don’t command that same interest as he does. (There’s even an older video of th calling him out on needing to tone it down) That’s why people think Jimin purposefully tries to upstage the other members, but it just turns out that way because he’s the best performer out the bunch. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Best example would be that same yg concert you mentioned. Jk went the day before Jimin and there wasn’t that much noise, (outside of armys). Then in comparison, when Jimin came the next day, the hype and anticipation was astronomical. Hit tweets everywhere. Everybody was talking about his LC stage and that Tony Montana pop up. And that’s where the insecurity started to seep through from different corners. Nobody had any reservations about Jk performing the day prior yet with Jimin all of a sudden it became an issue. Yg stans kept reiterating how jimin was at his sold out tour. Armys acting like jimin was a stranger that yg graciously allowed to perform, and of course jjk’s who were pissed because jimin’s day made more noise than jk’s did. (Also that the infamous “I heard you guys are having more fun today than yesterday line) I never took it as a direct jab at jk, obviously. He was referencing what yg said earlier I believe, but he still wasn’t wrong. You watch the vid of his LC performance and you listen to those fan chants? You can tell that they were it’s just the truth.

Another non bts example is something that recently happened at a Dune premiere with Zendaya and Timothee where she got that really cool robot archive pull. There was a Timothee stan that got mad because Zendaya was the talk of the night and nobody was really paying attention to him. Calling her an attention seeker as well and claiming that she did it to get people to focus on her. But you see how crazy that sounds? Zendaya is known for her outstanding looks just like Jimin is known for his performances and stage presence. They don’t have to put any extra effort into getting seen. Everybody was already gonna be focused on them anyway because of who they are. Neither one of them can help that they’re impactful, but people take it as a negative because they believe that they’re taking up too much attention and they feel like the person they stan is getting left behind.

It’s just like in the initial years of when BTS was really blowing up and you’d see kpop stans every under hit tweet or YouTube comment. Trying to promote their own favs get some recognition. Or when they’d get mad when whenever somebody mentioned kpop all they’d know was BTS. Exactly why you have all these ex armys running around so resentful towards them because they were obsessed with the underdog story. BTS didn’t fit that mold anymore. They went to find a group that was unknown and realized they’ll remain that way because BTS and kpop still go hand in hand. Some people are adverse to super popular things. They always have to tear it/them down. Nitpick and find something to devalue it or claim they don’t deserve their spot because someone else does. That’s why people hang onto jimin’s vocals for dear life and over exaggerate their response to any mishap he may have. They need something to knock him down a peg and keep him at ground level. It’s basically a way to placate themselves by framing it like it “he might be popular but he’s still imperfect as a performer.”

Armys also don’t do the unanimous ”they’re all good” for BTS out of respect for them as a group, because (as we’ve seen) they have no issue speaking in hyperbole for other members. They just have to neutralize the praise jimin gets because it’s a way to take away from the spotlight put on him so he doesn’t shine as much. Another tactic kpop stans used to use, but armys conveniently act like they haven’t also acquired. They’ll use the guise of the OT7 umbrella to make it look like jimin getting his dues doesn’t bothers them, but realistically they know each bts member does not have equal talent. Some have their strong suits and in other areas they lack. With Jimin, people can talk about that encore all day and barring the unwarranted hate boner towards him, they still can’t truthfully say Jimin can’t sing at all because he can. His vocal color is unique and pretty. (people can have their preferences for others, not a problem.) and it caries a certain Je ne sais quoi that makes him that much more alluring.

Jimin’s just a powerhouse all on his own. Hybe knows it, armys know it and kpop stans know it. That’s why they all restrict, undermine or berate him at every turn (respectively). As long as Jimin is Jimin, he’s gonna be a threat and the anomaly, similar to how BTS was but on an individual level.

YES. IT IS. and the thing about that is that i got into dr around abooout... 2015 i wanna say? so like. 7th grade. little too young to get into an m rated game, granted, but you cant snitch on me because that version of myself doesnt exist anymore so ha ha. anyways

i discovered dr1 because i used to find all my music through looking at MEPs (multi editor projects) and realized a lot of cool ones were labelled with this thing called "danganronpa" and the clips i saw in them just like. gripped me. there was something about them i couldnt look away from.

it was the executions, specifically celeste's, that i just couldn't stop rewinding to. this imagery of this very thick, stylized, almost paper-craft style of this MASSIVE stage literally unfolding to life around this person. it was SPECTACLE. something designed JUST FOR YOU. a DEATH TRAP designed just for you. that always stuck with me. and so, y'know, i decided to check it out, and obviously i start with dr1.

the ENG translation was out at this time but the LP i watched used the fan translation patch so i learned all their names japanese-style lol. but anyways. i fell in LOVE. hard. now, obviously the series has its problems, id argue its more famous for its problems these days than its achievements, but i think the general aesthetic and concept of DR still really grip me. to this day. the almost surreal, dreamlike environment of the school- neon-lit halls, days that start to bleed together, what is clearly a massive area devoid of any life, with rooms you've never seen before in a school, your classmates in the halls in that charming paper-2d style... it all lended itself to the murder mystery parts very well. the dreamlike parts extending to the executions, which were so... THEY WERE SO. i wouldn't call them RIDICULOUS. or IMPOSSIBLE. but they were OSTENTATIOUS. yet dark. and that really stuck with me, y'know? this emotional whiplash of dragging a confession out of someone, wanting to make them pay for what they did to your classmate, but at the same time, hearing them cry their hearts out, because their hand was forced, and then, having to see them die in the most undignified way- all as one big performance, one big joke with them as the grisly punchline.

and the characters only added to that for me. i was intrigued by kyoko's secrets, felt bad for sayaka and leon, and oh god don't even get me STARTED on taka and mondo. not knowing anything about dr, my jaw DROPPED when ch 3 started and taka just... didn't bounce back. i wasn't expecting it at all. and i watched, hungry for information, for the truth, as the illusion of normalcy slowly fell apart for the group- but so too did the killing game as the group slowly breaks the formula apart until monokuma's forced to dump an old corpse back into play to get makoto and kyoko out of his way. and then the reveal that THEY *WERE* ALL FRIENDS ALL ALONG, AND THESE STRANGERS HAD BEEN KILLING THEIR BEST FRIENDS THE ENTIRE TIME... THE APOCALYPSE REVEAL, THE FACT THAT THE CLASS TEARING EACH OTHER APART IS THEM DIRECTLY DISMANTLING THE LAST HOPE SOCIETY HAD, SEALING THE ULTIMATES IN THERE... ooooh. OOOH. the allure may be long gone, as this is now common knowledge, but in that moment, i FELT it. i felt like my entire world had been turned upside down with that knowledge.

and i came out of that like "WOW, THAT WAS REALLY COOL!! DANGANRONPA FANDOM WHAT DO YOU THINK?!" and the danganronpa fandom was like "its 2015, everyone is talking about sdr2 now." and i was like "oh." and i lowkey started getting a little resentful of dr2 for taking up all of dr1's attention. my little childbrain decided right then and there it was Overrated. and this kinda uninterested-ness i haven't really managed to shake off, ngl, even though i know it's specifically cos of those childhood feelings of mine.

i do enjoy sdr2 quite a lot these days! i think it has fun mysteries, the cast is nice, hajime is probably an upgrade from makoto NGL, but, like, nostalgia bias gets in the way. y'know? for my own emotions haha. BUT. i will say. i think it's smart the team didn't go with a confined space twice in a row, but the fact that the game is out on a big big island, even if it's deserted, that kinda did take away from one of my favourite aspects of the game- the claustrophobia. and there's also a lot of other aspects i LOVED about dr1 that kinda couldn't be recreated with sdr2, and i'm alright with that. i don't think it really makes dr1 the "superior" game. i think sdr2's clearly shown it's more beloved for a reason just based off public perception. but it's a matter of personal preference for me!

also the 2010-era grunginess of dr1 charms me more

so i guess, tl:dr childhood nostalgia bias, environment/aesthetic choices that couldn't carry over to the next game because it would be stale, and Him.

Oooooh I had to think about this one for a while, but here are a few! Apologies in advance, I started rambling lmao

Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining isn’t that good. I actually found it quite boring.

M3GAN also wasn’t that good. People act like it’s the best most unique horror film in ages when it’s really just the lovechild of Terminator and Child’s Play. It was entertaining enough to watch the first time, but I think it’s way overhyped and overrated and I’m tired of hearing about it.

IN CONTRAST. Malignant is a unique and unusual horror film with a really cool visual style, and people don’t appreciate its campiness and how it’s a love letter to 80s slashers and earlier giallo films. It’s a good, fun, silly fuckin time, y’all are just mean (now go watch it if you haven’t /j)

The distinction of certain horror movies as “torture porn” is a bit silly. Horror has always loved showcasing gore for the spectacle of a gross-out shock factor. It’s not like this changed with Saw – especially since the first Saw is more of a psychological thriller and not really any gorier than the first Scream. The only thing that’s changed is improved special effects. And perhaps a more desensitized audience, hence a need for more intense gore to make things more shocking.

A horror movie having a PG-13 rating doesn’t automatically make it bad. If the story works within a PG-13 rating, then I think that’s fine. An R allows you to do more, sure, but it’s not necessary. Just do what works for the movie you wanna make.

Horror movies where the monster is primarily a manifestation of grief/depression/etc. and is defeated by “letting go” are obnoxious as fuck. It feels like the movie is saying that it’s just a matter of shrugging off that melancholia and moving on in life. Which……. is not how that fucking works. I understand it’s supposed to be allegorical, not literal, but it still feels like a pretty fucking sloppy allegory.

Personally I think Cregan is overrated asf , however do you think that there was something between J*ce and Cregan and the whole thing about Sara was just a cover up story made by Mushroom?

(I don't really know that much about Cregan so I can't speak to whether he's overrated or not but he seems Fine and I like stern characters anyway and his behavior during the Hour of the Wolf was admittedly badass)

Again, with the ever present caveat that we don't know what actually happened and that at a certain point this all just becomes pure speculation, I don't think that Sara Snow was a cover for anything. Mushroom's not really the guy to engage in a coverup for people, his lies are specifically about making things seem outlandish as possible. If anything, he's going to embellish a salacious story further, and would have probably written about how Jace and Sara and Cregan all had a threesome together while Jace's dragon burned down the Winterfell godswood or something. So it's either that Sara Snow was the only thing he knew about and didn't have any information to take it further, or he literally just made her up (and I'm not getting into that because the "did Sara Snow ever exist" debate has somehow become a proxy for the Jonerys/Jonsa ship war and I refuse to get involved in fandom drama bullshit) .

As to whether I think that, "canonically", Jace and Cregan ever had any kind of romantic or sexual affair? Honestly, not canonically to the book, no. Again, it's speculation, I cannot give any more of an informed opinion than "do I personally think this was the writer's intent to hint at", especially with the format of the book, but in my view, no. George wrote that Jace and Cregan got close, yes, but it doesn't seem to be any closer than the average Westerosi bro thing. And honestly, I don't think George would have intended to even hint at it. Fire & Blood is, as I say, a history book, which means that the information George is giving us is mostly information we need to know. Part of the reason why character interpretation for the figures in the book (like the Conquerors and their dynamics, for instance) is because how they feel and what their relationships are like just aren't important to the information that actually needs to be conveyed. In F&B, George isn't really giving us superfluous information, and an affair between Cregan and Jace would likely be seen as superfluous to the main war storyline that's happening.

But! Do I wanna see it happen? Yeah I think it could be fun, I think it'd finally give Jace some fucking character, it would allow for more LGBT representation in this franchise, and it would be an interesting look into Westeros cultures and norms and differences between the regions. If they do go with that though then they need to give it its due, none of this "oh it's fine and doesn't matter and is just a fling with some guy anyway" fan interpretation nonsense. It needs to mean a lot for Jace that he's actively betraying his betrothed, and what that means for his thoughts on love and sex and same sex attraction and Cregan, and we need to see how it impacts Cregan too (I think by the time he meets Jace he's already a widower with a kid???? sir how old are you even????).

I have a crush on our class president. For quite some time now actually. At first I never really wanted to admit that to myself but like, whatever. I usually find my self staring at his direction, thinking "Man, he looks so fine" (i might be a little creepy). We'll call him Myr (that's his first three letters of his first name, but everyone calls him by his second name so I guess its fine??). Now, Myr isnt like 10/10 drop dead gorgeous superstar Henry Cavill or Tom Hiddleston fine, but ya know he's pretty in his own way. In my opinion he kinda looks like Yojiro Noda of Radwimps (should that be in all caps?? idk, srry), except Myr's a lot shorter and has puffier (is this a real word??) cheeks.

Actually, that's how it all started. I've just finished watching Your Name (yes, I know it came out years ago, but it was kinda overrated and everyone was talking about it and I want to defy social norms by trying not to be a bandwagon, spoiler: I failed) and I really loved the soundtrack. I was like "Wow, whoever's singing got a really handsome voice, I bet his face is even more handsome 😏😏. Tandadadum, I was right. I searched Radwimps on youtube and I looked on their recent videos. It was around June - September of 2023, their latest single is Dan Dai En (something like that, I'm sorry, I'm writing this all by memory while washing the dishes, I don't really have time to search for it), but it was like, black in white (not really, but their clothes and the theme were b&w) and seeing as they're a rock band, I didn't thought that I was ready for that yet. That's why I decided to watch the next video instead, Kanashibari, which has a lot more color in the cover. Long story short, I liked it, no, I loved it. I like their songs, how wholesome the lyrics were, Yojiro's voice, the background music, everything. I got somehow addicted to them. Then one day (I dont really know when), out of the blue, I looked at Myr and I was like "Oh my, he looks kinda like Yojiro" (especially when Myr's hair was longer) and ever since then I kept looking at him and its no longer just for finding the similarities in their faces. I just somehow found joy at looking at him. This went on for quite a long time (until now actually). I would always glances at him from time to time, especially whenever he smiles. He was, like, my happy crush.

I look in the mirror "Why are you such a fat ass?" I ask my body out loud. I only let these thoughts out when my boyfriend, Gerard was gone. I squeeze the stomach fat "Why does he even stay around?" I look at my thighs seeing the stretch marks. "Why?" I ask. I continue to pick on my body, inch by inch. I have no gap, stretch marks to the extreme, no curves, not as thin as some girls, just not attractive.

I hear footsteps and some arms wrap around me "Hey [Y/N]." Its Gerard. Did he hear everything I said? I Hope not. "Hi." I say trying to sound as normal as possible. He kisses the top of my head and grabs my hand "Come on. I wanna cuddle." He says sweet and innocently. I smile and follow him. We sit on the couch and he holds me. "Am I too heavy for you?" I ask. He looks suprised "No [Y/N]! Why would you think that? Your perfect weight for me." He says tightening his hold. A tear falls but I nod. "Oh honey." He wipes my tear and kisses where the tear was "You're perfect and amazing and drop dead gorgeous. Never think otherwise you are perfect whether you believe it or not, you are perfect to me." He kisses my cheek and forehead intertwining our fingers. "Yeah right." I think to myself. I love Gerard but sometimes I think he exaggerates. I lay my head against his shoulder "Thanks." He leans his head against mine "Love you."

"Love you too."

We eventually fall asleep in this state.

~Next day~

I get up. I look for Gerard and he's not to be seen. I get up and start looking for him. I really hope he didn't just leave without telling me. I eventually find that he's in his studio. I watch as he works. He has his guitar on his lap whilst singing. The room is sound proof so I can't hear what he's singing unfortunately. I continue to admire his mute playing in silence. After a few minutes he notices me. He excitedly motions for me to come in. He stands up and grabs another chair "Morning sweetheart!" He has me sit in the chair and kisses me before sitting down himself. "Morning."

"So I have something for you." He turns light red, almost unnoticeable. "Ok?"

"I wrote a song for you."

He adjusts his guitar on his lap and begins singing softly "These are the eyes and the lies of the taken..."

By the time he finishes I have tears in my eyes. Is this really what he thought? "So... what ya think?" He asks. I hug Gerard in response "Its beautiful...I love it."

"Ahah, not as beautiful as you!"

I roll my eyes but he continues "I Wrote it for you at like... midnight. I heard you talking about yourself yesterday in the mirror." He grabs my hand and holds it "Don't believe any of that shit. You are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen and your the perfect weight for me. What's so bad about stretch marks? I don't get it, it's literally just lines. The gap? Who's gonna look at your ass to notice? I don't care! I've never even noticed! Curves? Overrated. You stun me with your utter beauty everyday. No joke like I can't get over the fact that I got a someone like you! So Please... don't downgrade yourself anymore. For me? That hurt me more than you can imagine. I love you [Y/N]. I love you on the inside, I love you on the outside, I love every inch of you I just need you to believe it." He kisses my hand.

More tears start to break free as I nod. Gerard wipes my tears and caresses my cheek as more tears fall. "I promise." I say, my voice cracking. "Good." Gerard says and puts a strand of my hair behind my ear. "I love you." I say. He hugs me, putting my head against his chest as he strokes my hair "I love you too."
